Chapter 18 - The Eviction

The bank officially seized Beatrice's historic estate.

Because Elena owned the debt, she was allowed to oversee the property transfer.

Beatrice had been released on bail, pending her criminal trial.

She watched in tears as movers packed her entire life into cheap cardboard boxes.

Elena stood on the grand porch, watching the process with mild amusement.

"You ruined our family!" Beatrice hissed, clutching a cheap purse.

"No, Beatrice," Elena corrected her calmly.

"Your pride and your greed ruined your family."

Elena handed the foreclosed keys to a local charity organization director.

"This estate will now serve as a battered women's shelter," Elena announced proudly.

Beatrice let out a horrible, wailing sob as she was forced off the property.

Her precious legacy was now a charity project for the very people she despised.
