While Richard finalized the paperwork, Elena hired a private investigator.
She wanted to know exactly where Mateo had been spending his late nights.
The investigator returned with high-definition photographs within forty-eight hours.
Mateo had been keeping a twenty-two-year-old model named Chloe in a luxury condo.
Elena felt a brief sting of betrayal, but it quickly morphed into icy resolve.
She didn't cry.
She simply looked at the lease agreement the investigator handed her.
The luxury condo was actually managed by one of Elena's own subsidiary companies.
Mateo had been using Elena's money to pay Elena's company to house his mistress.
The irony was absolutely delicious.
Elena made a quick phone call to the property manager.
"Evict unit 402 immediately for breach of contract," she ordered.
