Chapter 13 - The Trap Springs

I didn't panic. I had spent the last three months turning my home into an impenetrable fortress. I told Clara to take Maya upstairs to the master suite and lock the reinforced door. Then, I initiated the protocol.
I didn't turn on the outside floodlights. Instead, I let Eleanor think she was undetected. I watched her on the tablet as she hopped the low back fence and crept toward our glass sunroom.
She produced a small crowbar from her coat, clearly intending to force the sliding door.
What Eleanor didn't know was that I had installed a smart-lock vestibule system. The outer sunroom door was deliberately left unlocked. She slid it open and stepped inside the glass enclosure.

The moment her feet crossed the threshold, I pressed a button on my app. The heavy inner security door locked down, and the outer sliding door slammed shut and magnetically sealed behind her.
She was trapped in a glass cage. The silent alarm instantly dispatched the police.
