The social media fallout was apocalyptic. Arthur owned a chain of high-end car dealerships across the state. By the next morning, protestors were standing outside his flagship store with signs demanding justice for Mia.
The public pressure was immense. Arthur's corporate partners, terrified of the PR nightmare, began pulling their contracts. The local news stations picked up the viral post and ran it on the five o'clock broadcast.
David called my phone, violating the restraining order. I let it go to voicemail.
“Clara, take the post down! You are ruining my father’s business! You’re ruining my life! My boss just put me on unpaid leave because the internet doxxed me! I’ll give you whatever you want in the divorce, just make it stop!”
I saved the voicemail and sent it to Eleanor. "Add a violation of a protective order to his tab," I texted her.
