Chapter 14 - The Decryption

As soon as Lorenzo was completely free from the chains, I gently tossed the small black flash drive onto the wooden table between us.
Moretti immediately scrambled to plug the tiny device into a sleek, state-of-the-art laptop that his technical team had set up on a nearby barrel.
Lorenzo limped over to my side, his large, warm hand gripping my waist protectively as he heavily leaned his weight against me.
“You are completely insane for coming here, you beautiful, reckless woman,” he whispered harshly into my ear, his breath warm against my freezing skin.
“I was never going to let them take you away from me,” I whispered back, my eyes firmly fixed on the glowing laptop screen.
Moretti frantically tapped the keyboard, pulling up a secure login prompt that demanded a complex alphanumeric password to proceed.
“What is the damn password, Elena?” the old mob boss demanded impatiently, his sweaty fingers hovering anxiously over the keys.
I took a deep breath, glancing quickly at Lorenzo before looking back at the desperate, aging criminal who thought he had finally won.
“The password is 'Blue Rabbit', typed as one single word with no spaces,” I said clearly, perfectly pronouncing the name of my daughter's favorite toy.
Moretti aggressively typed the words in, his greedy eyes lighting up with wicked anticipation as he waited for the priceless files to rapidly decrypt.
A small loading bar appeared on the screen, slowly filling up with green as the system processed the complex security authorization.

Camilla leaned over his shoulder, her greedy smile returning as she eagerly anticipated the absolute destruction of Lorenzo's entire organization.
But the files did not decrypt.
