Chapter 7 - The Social Media Smear Campaign

Denied access to Liam’s money, Eleanor turned to the only arena where she still had unquestioned power: Facebook.

She drafted a sprawling, emotionally manipulative post complete with crying emojis and a picture of Leo from the hospital.

“My heart is broken into a million pieces,” Eleanor wrote to her 800 followers. “My son has been brainwashed by a cruel, manipulative woman who is keeping my only grandson from me. I was simply trying to help them post-partum, cooking and cleaning, and I was thrown out like garbage. Please pray for my son. He is trapped in an abusive marriage.”

Within hours, the post had dozens of comments from sympathetic church members and distant relatives, condemning Maya and demanding Liam see reason.

Maya saw the post while nursing Leo in the apartment. She burst into tears, the cruel words reopening her emotional wounds.

Liam didn’t engage in a comment war. He didn’t post a defense. He took a screenshot, sent it to his lawyer, and waited.

Forty-eight hours later, a courier arrived at Eleanor’s immaculate suburban home. He handed her a thick legal envelope. Inside was a formal Cease and Desist order, drafted by Marcus Vance. It outlined the exact medical records of Maya’s collapse, the witness statements, and a threat of a massive defamation lawsuit if Eleanor did not remove the post immediately.

At the bottom of the letter was a stark, bolded warning: Any further public disparagement of Maya Davis will result in immediate civil litigation for intentional infliction of emotional distress.

Eleanor deleted the post within ten minutes. But the war was far from over.
