Chapter 6 - The Financial Sabotage
Eleanor’s tears quickly turned to vengeance when the flying monkeys failed. If she couldn't manipulate Liam emotionally, she would cripple him financially.
On a Tuesday morning, Liam was sitting at the kitchen island in their new apartment, paying medical bills, when his phone buzzed with an alert from his bank.
Transaction Alert: Transfer of $45,000 from Primary Savings to External Account initiated.
Liam’s blood ran cold. The account was an old savings fund he had opened in college. Eleanor’s name had been on it as a joint signer for over a decade, a detail Liam had completely forgotten in the chaos of adulthood. She was attempting to drain their emergency fund.
He grabbed his phone and called his bank’s fraud department immediately.
“I need to freeze an outgoing wire transfer,” Liam commanded, rattling off his account number and security pins. “My mother is a joint signer, but this is an unauthorized, malicious withdrawal. Freeze the account. Now.”
The representative moved quickly, halting the transfer just before it cleared the ACH network.
An hour later, Liam sat in his attorney’s office. Marcus Vance, a ruthless family law attorney, looked over the bank statements with a grim smile.

“She’s getting desperate,” Marcus said, tapping his pen on the desk. “This was a foolish move. She attempted to drain marital assets. We are going to file an emergency financial injunction. But more importantly, Liam, this proves malicious intent. It’s excellent fuel for the restraining order.”
“Do whatever you have to do,” Liam said, his jaw clenched tight. “Strip her of every legal tie she has to me. I want her completely severed from my life.”
