Chapter 11 - The Father's Testimony
When the case finally went before a family court judge, Eleanor’s attorney tried to pivot, claiming Liam was a violent, unstable man who was alienating his mother.
To counter this, Marcus called Arthur Davis to the witness stand.
Arthur wore a sharp suit, his demeanor calm and authoritative. He swore his oath and looked directly at the judge.
“Mr. Davis,” Marcus began, “can you describe your ex-wife’s parenting style and her relationship with control?”
Arthur didn't look at Eleanor. He spoke clearly for the court record.
“Eleanor does not love people. She hoards them. If you obey her, you are useful. If you show independence, you are an enemy to be destroyed. I divorced her twelve years ago because she attempted to alienate me from my own son by fabricating lies about my mental health. She uses litigation, smear campaigns, and psychological abuse to punish anyone who escapes her orbit.”
Arthur leaned forward, his voice thick with emotion. “My son was raised to believe it was his job to manage his mother’s emotions. The moment he chose to protect his wife and newborn child instead, Eleanor tried to destroy his life. She is a danger to that child’s emotional and physical safety.”
Eleanor gripped the edge of her table, her face purple with rage. “He’s a liar!” she screamed across the courtroom. “He’s a weak, pathetic man!”

The judge slammed his gavel. “Order! One more outburst, Mrs. Davis, and I will have the bailiff remove you.”
Liam watched his mother’s mask slip in front of a judge. The pristine, untouchable matriarch was finally being seen for what she truly was.
