Chapter 12 - The Judge's Gavel

The final ruling was delivered two days later. The courtroom was quiet as the judge read through his fifty-page decision.
“In the matter of visitation rights petitioned by Eleanor Davis,” the judge stated, his voice ringing with absolute finality, “this court finds the petitioner’s claims to be entirely without merit. The video evidence presented demonstrates a shocking level of negligence and malice toward the child’s mother, which directly endangered the health of the infant as well.”
Eleanor stared straight ahead, her jaw locked.
“Furthermore,” the judge continued, “the petitioner’s actions following the incident—including unauthorized attempts to drain marital funds and public defamation—indicate a pattern of targeted harassment. Therefore, I am denying the petition for grandparents' rights with prejudice. You may not refile.”
Liam let out a breath he felt he had been holding for decades. Maya squeezed his hand, silent tears of relief streaming down her face.
“Additionally,” the judge looked directly at Eleanor over his spectacles. “I am granting the respondents’ request for a permanent Order of Protection. Mrs. Davis, you are forbidden from coming within 500 yards of Liam Davis, Maya Davis, or their son, Leo. You are forbidden from contacting them via phone, email, or third-party proxies. If you violate this order, you will be arrested. Court is adjourned.”

Eleanor stood up. She looked at Liam, expecting to see regret or hesitation.
Liam just looked right through her, turned his back, and walked out of the courtroom with his true family.
