Chapter 17 - Graduation
Time moves fast when you are no longer living in survival mode.
Two years later, I stood in my cap and gown, the college valedictorian.
As I walked across the stage to receive my degree in Business Administration, the crowd cheered.
But I only heard two voices: Claire and Maya, screaming their lungs out from the front row.
I smiled, tapping my chest right over where the pacemaker sat.
I had beaten the odds.
During my valedictorian speech, I didn't talk about business strategies or corporate success.
I talked about time.
“We often think we have an infinite amount of time,” I told the silent auditorium.
“But time is fragile.
In a matter of seconds, your entire life can change.
Surround yourself with people who listen when you whisper, not those who ignore you when you scream.”
