Chapter 12 - The Unexpected Visitor

Life settled into a peaceful routine.

I started online college courses, focusing on business and law, wanting to understand how to manage my mother’s estate properly.

One rainy Tuesday, I was at a local coffee shop studying when someone slid into the booth across from me.

I looked up and froze.

It was Aunt Susan.

She looked awful.

Her designer clothes were gone, replaced by a cheap, oversized trench coat.

Her hair was unkempt, and the arrogant sneer she used to wear was completely erased.

“Leo,” she rasped, looking around nervously.

“You have a restraining order against you, Susan,” I said, closing my laptop smoothly.

“If you aren't gone in ten seconds, I’m calling the police.”

“Wait! Please!” she begged.

“I need money.

Richard took everything before the state froze my accounts.

I’m living in my car.

Please, you got the trust fund.

You have millions.

Just loan me fifty thousand.”

I stared at her, marveling at the audacity.

This woman had drugged me, mocked me as I died, and now she wanted a handout.

“No,” I said simply.
