Chapter 5 - The Sister's Desperation

Olivia could not handle the sheer humiliation of her canceled wedding and frozen bank accounts.
She showed up at my apartment complex later that afternoon, banging aggressively on my front door.
I unlocked the deadbolt and slowly opened the door, leaving the security chain attached.
Olivia looked completely unhinged, her expensive makeup smeared across her tear-stained face.
"You ruined my life, you psychotic bitch!" she screamed at the top of her lungs.
I stared at her calmly, noticing how quickly her royal demeanor had completely vanished.
"I didn't steal millions of dollars, Olivia, I just turned on the lights," I replied smoothly.
She kicked my door, acting exactly like the spoiled toddler she had always been.
"Liam left me! He took the ring and canceled the country club venue!" she wailed pitifully.
I looked down at her bare finger, feeling absolutely no sympathy for her loss.
"Maybe if you hadn't clapped when Dad beat me, I would have warned you," I said coldly.
Her eyes widened in genuine shock, as if she couldn't believe actions had actual consequences.
"We are family, Maya! You are supposed to protect us no matter what!" she pleaded.
I laughed out loud at the absolute absurdity of her twisted logic.
"Family doesn't lock their bleeding daughter in a dark alley like a stray dog," I reminded her.
I unlatched the chain, but only to step forward and force her back into the hallway.
"Do not ever come to my home again, or I will have you arrested for trespassing," I warned her.
I slammed the door firmly in her face, enjoying the sound of her frustrated sobbing outside.

She had spent her whole life thriving on my pain and misery.
Now, she was entirely on her own in a world that no longer cared about her last name.
