Chapter 4 - The Federal Raid

The sun was barely fully risen when a fleet of black SUVs surrounded the Vance estate.
Dozens of federal agents in dark windbreakers poured out onto the manicured lawn.
My father was pacing back and forth in his study, desperately trying to shred documents.
He heard the loud, demanding pound on the grand double doors of his mansion.
Before his hired butler could even answer, the agents forcefully breached the entryway.
My mother screamed hysterically from the top of the stairs as armed men flooded her beautiful home.
The lead investigator flashed his golden badge directly in my father's pale face.
"Thomas Vance, we have a federal warrant to search this entire property," the agent announced loudly.
My father tried to use his typical arrogant charm to intimidate the federal officer.
"Do you have any idea who I am? I play golf with the mayor!" he threatened angrily.
The agent simply smirked and signaled for his team to begin the extensive raid.
They began seizing expensive artwork, luxury vehicles, and every single computer in the house.
They ripped open the hidden wall safe behind his favorite oil painting, discovering the fake passports.
My mother sobbed as an agent carefully placed her priceless diamond necklaces into an evidence bag.
She had spent thirty years looking the other way, pretending the dirty money was clean.
Now, she was finally paying the ultimate price for her convenient, cowardly silence.
My father was shoved into the back of a police cruiser in front of his entire wealthy neighborhood.
The same country club friends who had toasted his success last night were now peering through their blinds, watching his downfall.
His reputation, carefully curated over decades of lies, was completely incinerated in a single hour.
I watched the live helicopter footage of the raid on my laptop screen.

A deep sense of justice washed over me as I saw the handcuffs click around his wrists.
The monster was finally trapped in a cage where he could never hurt me again.
