Chapter 3 - The Groom's Doubt

Olivia woke up in her luxury condominium, nursing a massive hangover from the party.
She rolled over in bed, expecting her handsome fiancé, Liam, to bring her breakfast.
Instead, she found Liam standing fully dressed by the window, staring at his phone with a furious expression.
"Liam, baby, what’s wrong with you today?" she asked, batting her eyelashes innocently.
Liam turned around, and his eyes were completely devoid of the warmth he usually showed her.
His prestigious law firm had just been bombarded with calls regarding his connection to the Vance family.
"Your father is running a massive Ponzi scheme, Olivia," Liam stated coldly.
Olivia immediately scoffed, rolling her eyes as if it were just a silly rumor.
"Oh, please, this is probably just Maya acting out and spreading lies because she is jealous of me."
Liam walked over and tossed his phone directly onto her lap so she could see the screen.
It was a detailed PDF document showing her father embezzling funds from a children's charity to pay for her engagement ring.
Olivia's face drained of all color as she recognized the specific financial dates.
"My senior partners are demanding that I completely distance myself from your family immediately," Liam explained.
Olivia started to panic, crying fake tears and reaching out for his hand.
"You can't leave me, Liam, we are supposed to be married in six months!"
Liam took a slow step back, disgusted by her pathetic display of manipulation.
"The wedding is indefinitely postponed until this entire investigation is over," he declared firmly.
He grabbed his expensive leather briefcase and walked straight toward the front door.
Olivia screamed after him, but the heavy door slammed shut, echoing through the empty condo.
Her perfect, flawless life was unravelling faster than she could even comprehend.
