Chapter 11 - The Golden Child Cracks

Olivia could not handle the brutal reality of living in poverty.
She had spent her last remaining dollars on cheap vodka to numb the crushing pain of her shattered ego.
She aggressively barged into the diner where our mother worked, completely intoxicated and causing a massive scene.
"You promised me I would always be rich! You lied to me!" Olivia screamed at her terrified mother.
The diner manager quickly stepped in, threatening to call the police if Olivia did not leave the premises.
My mother grabbed her golden child by the arm, dragging her out into the cold parking lot.
"Stop this right now, Olivia! We have nothing left!" my mother sobbed, shaking her daughter.
Olivia shoved her mother away violently, her eyes completely wild with desperation and fury.
"I am not going to be poor! I am going to sell my story to the tabloids and make millions!" she declared.
Olivia actually believed that her perspective as the 'betrayed daughter' would make her instantly famous.
She spent the next week calling every major gossip magazine in the country.
Every single editor laughed directly in her face before hanging up the phone.
The public did not care about the spoiled brat who lost her trust fund; they only cared about the massive fraud.
Olivia was entirely irrelevant to the real story, completely stripped of her perceived importance.
