Chapter 5 - The Holding Cell

The concrete walls of the federal holding facility were cold and unforgiving.
Arthur, Victoria, and Julian were placed in separate interrogation rooms.
They had spent their entire lives lying to everyone, including each other.
Now, the federal investigators were expertly playing them against one another.
The detective showed Arthur the printed bank statements proving his personal theft.
Arthur immediately tried to claim that the accounts were entirely managed by Julian.
In the next room, Julian was frantically throwing his father under the bus.
Julian swore that he was just following orders and that Arthur was the true mastermind.
Victoria demanded to speak to her elite lawyer, screaming about her civil rights.
The detective calmly informed her that her lawyer had just resigned due to a conflict of interest.
The lawyer’s firm had also been implicated in the leaked documents.
Victoria suddenly realized that her endless wealth and privilege had vanished overnight.
She began to hyperventilate, clutching her chest as the reality set in.
They all demanded to know who had leaked the impossible, encrypted information.
The lead agent slammed a printed photograph of my flash drive onto the metal table.
He told them that an anonymous whistleblower had handed them the keys to the kingdom.
Arthur stared at the photograph, his face turning an ashen, sickly gray.
He recognized the custom engraving on the drive that he had bought for me years ago.

He finally realized that the silent daughter he had abused was the architect of his doom.
The smirk he wore last night was completely wiped from existence.
