Chapter 11 - The Secret Sister

Chloe had been living in a cheap, rundown motel on the outskirts of the city.
She had sold all her designer bags just to afford a few weeks of rent and food.
She wore sweatpants and an oversized hoodie, hiding her face behind dark sunglasses.
She finally managed to track down my personal phone number through an old mutual friend.
When my phone rang, I almost ignored it, but morbid curiosity made me answer.
Chloe was sobbing so hard I could barely understand her frantic words.
She begged me for a loan, promising to pay me back as soon as she found a job.
I asked her what kind of job a spoiled socialite with zero work experience could possibly get.
Chloe stuttered, having absolutely no real answer to my question.
I told her that for twenty-four years, she had happily spent the money I suffered to protect.
She had stood by and watched our parents treat me like garbage every single day.
I reminded her that she had laughed at my cheap clothes while wearing stolen diamonds.
Chloe cried harder, swearing that she was sorry and that she had changed.
I told her that apologies without actions are just meaningless manipulation.
I offered her a job as a junior data entry clerk at my new firm.
She would make minimum wage and would have to clock in at six in the morning.
Chloe scoffed, insulted that I would offer her such a demeaning, low-level position.

I calmly hung up the phone and permanently blocked her number.
She was not ready to live in the real world yet.
