Chapter 13 - The Star Witness

On the third day of the trial, my name was officially called to the stand.

A hushed whisper fell over the courtroom as I walked up to the witness box.

I placed my hand on the Bible and swore to tell the absolute truth.

The prosecutor began his questioning, asking me to explain my role in the company.

I spoke clearly and calmly, detailing how I was forced to hide their financial crimes.

I explained the complex network of offshore accounts Arthur had secretly created.

I presented the undeniable digital logs proving Julian’s massive embezzlement scheme.

The defense attorney tried to aggressively cross-examine me, attempting to ruin my credibility.

He loudly accused me of being a disgruntled, jealous daughter seeking revenge.

I did not raise my voice, nor did I let him intimidate me for a single second.

I simply presented the hard, irrefutable data that backed up every single claim.

Math does not lie, and the numbers on the screen were absolutely devastating.

The jury took diligent notes, clearly convinced by my unwavering testimony.

Victoria suddenly stood up in the middle of the courtroom and started screaming at me.

She called me a traitor and a liar, violently pointing her finger at my face.

The judge furiously banged his gavel and ordered the bailiffs to restrain her.

Victoria was dragged out of the courtroom kicking and screaming like a toddler.

Her outburst proved to the jury exactly how toxic and unhinged she truly was.

I stepped down from the stand feeling lighter than I had in a decade.
