Chapter 13 - The Default Judgment
Clara never formally responded to the massive civil lawsuit.
She could not afford a lawyer, and she was too arrogant and terrified to represent herself in court.
Because she failed to appear, the judge immediately granted us a complete default judgment in my favor.
The court officially ordered Clara to publicly retract her defamatory statements and awarded me a massive financial settlement.
Obviously, Clara did not have a single penny to actually pay the court-ordered settlement.
But Veronica, my brilliant lawyer, had a completely different, incredibly ruthless strategy in mind.
"We are going to place a permanent lien against any future earnings or assets she ever acquires," Veronica explained.
"If she ever gets a legitimate job, a portion of her paycheck will be automatically garnished and sent directly to you."
"If she ever buys a car or inherits money from someone else, we can legally seize it."
I smiled, entirely satisfied with the absolute, inescapable trap we had legally built around her.
She had always viewed my money as her personal, unconditional entitlement.
Now, she would spend the rest of her miserable life literally working to pay off the debt she owed me for her cruelty.
Clara was completely forced to post a public apology video on her social media pages, entirely scripted by my legal team.
She looked totally defeated, her voice flat and completely stripped of its usual arrogant venom.
She confessed to lying about my mental health and admitted to the physical assault on Christmas Eve.
