Chapter 5 - The Boardroom Coup

I pushed through the glass doors of Sterling Tech, my high heels clicking loudly on the polished floor.
The receptionist gasped when she saw me, immediately picking up her phone to warn someone.
I did not stop walking until I reached the main glass-walled boardroom.
Marcus was standing at the head of the long table, desperately trying to calm down a group of angry investors.
“I assure you, the banking error will be resolved by this afternoon,” Marcus was lying smoothly.
I pushed the boardroom doors open, silencing the entire room instantly.
“It is not a banking error, gentlemen,” I announced, walking confidently into the room.
Marcus turned pale, gripping the edges of the table to steady himself.
“Clara, what the hell are you doing here?” he hissed through his teeth.
“This is a closed meeting.”
I pulled a thick stack of legal documents from my briefcase and tossed them onto the center of the table.
“I am here to inform the board that Marcus Sterling has been embezzling company funds to support his mistress.”
The investors gasped, instantly grabbing the documents I had provided.
The papers contained crystal-clear proof of Vanessa’s luxury apartment, paid for by corporate accounts.
“You signed over fifty-one percent of your voting shares to my trust in exchange for the initial startup capital,” I reminded him loudly.
“You were too arrogant to read the contract, Marcus.”
“As the majority shareholder, I am calling an emergency vote to terminate you as CEO, effective immediately.”
Marcus looked around the room, expecting his loyal friends to defend him.
Instead, the investors glared at him with complete disgust.

“I second the motion to terminate,” the oldest investor stated firmly.
Marcus was dragged out of his own company by security, clutching a cardboard box of his belongings.
