Chapter 2 - The Eviction

The heavy wooden front door swung open, and three armed security guards rushed into the foyer.

Two local police officers followed closely behind them, their hands resting on their belts.

Marcus immediately put his hands up and forced a charming, completely fake smile.

“Officers, there is no emergency here, just a simple domestic misunderstanding.”

“My wife is just a little stressed from her business trip.”

The lead officer looked at Marcus, then looked at me holding my filthy, crying child.

“Ma'am, did you trigger the alarm?” the officer asked me respectfully.

“Yes, I did,” I answered, my voice steady and completely clear.

“These three individuals are trespassing in my home, and I want them removed immediately.”

Marcus dropped his fake smile and glared at me with pure venom.

“This is my house, Clara, you cannot do this!”

I pulled the digital deed from my phone and handed it directly to the police officer.

The officer read the screen carefully, his expression hardening as he verified the legal documents.

“Sir, this property belongs to the Clara Sterling Trust,” the officer stated firmly.

“You have no legal right to be here if the owner wants you gone.”

Eleanor stood up, shaking with rage as she held the secret baby.

“I am a respected member of this community, and I will not be thrown out into the street!”

“Then I suggest you walk out quietly before I have you arrested for child endangerment,” I warned her.

“I saw how you made my son crawl on his hands and knees.”

Vanessa grabbed her designer purse and practically ran toward the door, not waiting for Marcus.

Marcus tried to step toward me, but a security guard instantly blocked his path.

“Do not ever contact me or my son again,” I told him.

He was escorted out of the door, completely humiliated in front of the neighbors.

I locked the deadbolt, the heavy click echoing like music in my ears.

My home was finally clean.
