Chapter 7 - The Downfall

The judge immediately dismissed all charges against my husband.
The courtroom erupted into cheers as the bailiff unlocked Julian’s heavy handcuffs.
"Furthermore," the judge thundered, glaring furiously at Eleanor and Beatrice.
"I am ordering the immediate arrest of Eleanor and Beatrice on charges of perjury and aggravated assault."
The two detectives who had arrested Julian two weeks ago suddenly stepped forward.
They did not look nearly as gentle this time.
"No, wait, it was a misunderstanding!" Eleanor shrieked as the cold metal cuffed her wrists.
Beatrice tried to run toward the heavy oak doors, but a female officer tackled her to the floor.
"You ruined everything!" Beatrice screamed at her mother, completely turning on her in the face of prison.
I didn't care about their pathetic screaming anymore.
Julian ran across the courtroom and pulled me into the most desperate, loving embrace of my life.
"You saved me," he wept into my hair, holding me as tight as he safely could.
"We are finally safe," I whispered back, burying my face in his chest.
Suddenly, a sharp, terrifying pain ripped through my abdomen.
