Chapter 6 - The Trap Closes

The judge allowed the evidence, and the lights in the courtroom were dimmed.
A massive projector screen was lowered from the ceiling in front of the jury box.
"We have heard a very tragic story from the prosecution today," Mr. Sterling began.
"But unfortunately for them, the teddy bear on the shelf saw a very different version of events."
Beatrice’s face drained of all color, her eyes widening in sheer, unadulterated panic.
Eleanor grabbed the edge of the witness stand, her fake neck brace suddenly looking very uncomfortable.
Mr. Sterling pressed a button on his remote, and the hidden camera footage began to play.
The courtroom watched in absolute, stunned silence as Eleanor grabbed the boiling teapot.
The high-definition audio picked up her cruel words perfectly.
"How dare you flaunt your pregnancy when my daughter can't conceive!"
Then, the video showed her deliberately pouring the scalding tea onto my pregnant stomach.
Gasps of horror erupted from the jury box and the crowded gallery.
The footage continued, proving Julian only reacted to protect his violently assaulted wife and unborn child.
"Objection!" the prosecuting attorney shouted, looking incredibly embarrassed and frantic.
"Your Honor, this clearly shows attempted murder of an unborn child by the witness," Mr. Sterling fired back.
