Chapter 13 - The Shockwave

The silence in the grand foyer was so absolute that the sound of a pin dropping would have echoed like a gunshot.

Mrs. Gable stared blankly at the filthy knit cap resting against the toe of her expensive black leather pump.

Her mind simply could not process the catastrophic magnitude of the mistake she had just made.

"Mr. Whitmore... I... I had absolutely no idea," she stuttered, her voice shaking violently as she pressed herself against the marble pillar.

"If I had known it was you, sir, I would have immediately invited you inside and prepared a lavish breakfast."

Adrian let out a dark, terrifying laugh that sent actual shivers down the spines of the listening kitchen staff.

"That is exactly the entire point of this experiment, Mrs. Gable," Adrian snapped, his voice echoing fiercely off the marble walls.

"You would have treated me with ultimate respect only because I have the financial power to completely destroy your life."

"When you thought I was just a powerless, starving man, you showed me your true, utterly rotten character."

Mrs. Gable frantically shook her head, tears of pure, selfish desperation finally spilling over her mascara-lined eyes.

"I have dedicated five years of my life to running this estate perfectly for you, Mr. Whitmore!" she pleaded loudly.

"You yourself told me that perfection was not optional, and that strict discipline was required to maintain this standard of living."

Adrian stepped forward, closing the final few inches between them until he was looming completely over her.

"I demanded excellence, Mrs. Gable, not sociopathic cruelty," Adrian corrected her, his tone dropping to a lethal whisper.

"I built an empire believing that fear kept employees sharp, but you have twisted that philosophy to terrorize innocent people."

He slowly pointed his finger toward the heavy oak doors leading out to the manicured driveway.

"You watched a young woman willingly bleed on the gravel while cleaning up your petty mess, and you felt absolutely nothing."

"Effective immediately, your employment at Whitmore Global Holdings and all its subsidiary estates is permanently terminated."

Mrs. Gable let out a loud, pathetic sob, reaching a trembling hand out as if to grab his tailored suit sleeve.

Adrian did not even flinch, simply snapping his fingers to summon two members of his elite executive protection team.

The massive guards stepped out from the shadows immediately, flanking the disgraced housekeeper on both sides.

"Furthermore, Mrs. Gable, I have already instructed my legal team to contact every single domestic agency on the East Coast," Adrian announced loudly.

"You are officially blacklisted from working in luxury management for the rest of your natural life."

"Escort her off my property without allowing her to collect anything from her office."

Mrs. Gable screamed in absolute protest, struggling fiercely as the guards grabbed her arms and physically dragged her toward the servant's exit.

The entire staff watched in paralyzed horror as the untouchable, tyrannical queen of Whitmore House was thrown out like common garbage.

The heavy doors slammed shut behind her, plunging the massive foyer back into an ocean of terrified silence.

The billionaire owner of the estate stood perfectly still, letting the heavy reality of his absolute power wash over the remaining employees.

They all knew without a shadow of a doubt that everything they thought they knew about this house had just changed forever.
