Chapter 5 - THE BOARDROOM AMBUSH

The sun began to rise over the Sterling estate, casting a golden light through the windows.

Eleanor was safely stabilized in the sterile, state-of-the-art medical wing.

Dr. Thorne assured Julian that she would wake up soon.

Julian sat by her bedside, holding her hand, while Clara slept curled up in his lap.

His phone buzzed in his pocket.

It was Vance.

“Sir, the emergency shareholder meeting is starting at the downtown headquarters in one hour.”

Julian’s eyes hardened.

Marcus’s allies on the board were unaware that their leader was currently sitting in a federal holding cell.

They were expecting to vote Julian out, or worse, announce his sudden "death."

Julian gently moved Clara to a soft armchair and kissed Eleanor’s hand.

“I have to go finish this,” he whispered to his sleeping wife.

He showered quickly, washing his brother’s blood off his skin.

He put on his sharpest, darkest Italian suit.

When he walked out of the mansion, he didn't look like a grieving widower anymore.

He looked like a king going to war.

A convoy of black SUVs escorted him to the Sterling Tower in the heart of the city.

Inside the massive glass boardroom, the corrupt board members were already celebrating.

“With Julian out of the picture, Marcus will take the reins seamlessly,” one executive was saying.

The heavy mahogany doors to the boardroom suddenly burst open.

Silence fell over the room like a heavy blanket.

Julian strode in, flanked by Vance and a team of corporate lawyers.

The executives turned pale, dropping their coffee cups in sheer panic.

“Good morning, gentlemen,” Julian said, his voice echoing in the large room.

“I hear you were expecting my corpse to attend this meeting.”
