The entire ballroom erupted into gasps.

Julian pulled a small, velvet box from his tuxedo pocket and flipped it open, revealing a flawless, brilliant-cut diamond ring that caught the light of a thousand chandeliers.

"Clara Hayes," Julian said softly, his voice thick with emotion. "You are my protector, my partner, and the love of my life. I vow to spend the rest of my days ensuring you never have to look over your shoulder again. Will you marry me?"

Tears of pure joy spilled down Clara’s cheeks. She looked down at the man who had torn apart the world to keep her safe, the man who loved her unconditionally.

"Yes," Clara whispered, her voice breaking. "Yes, Julian, of course."

The room erupted into deafening applause as Julian slid the ring onto her finger, standing up to pull her into a passionate, breathtaking kiss. Flashbulbs went off, capturing the moment the invincible syndicate boss officially surrendered his heart.

Suddenly, a tiny, joyous shriek pierced the applause.

"Mama!"

Clara pulled back just in time to see little Mia, dressed in a beautiful white tulle dress, running across the hardwood floor as fast as her little legs could carry her. Clara dropped to her knees, opening her arms wide.

Mia crashed into her, giggling wildly, wrapping her tiny arms around Clara’s neck. Julian knelt beside them, wrapping his massive arms around both his girls, burying his face in Clara’s neck.

And as Clara held Mia tightly against her chest, looking up into Julian’s loving eyes, she knew she was finally, truly, home.
