Chapter 11 - The Break-in

At 2:00 AM on Sunday, the perimeter alarm on Daniel’s phone silently flashed red.

They watched the live camera feed from their bedroom monitor. Beatrice, dressed entirely in black, bypassed the front door and moved toward the patio—the very same patio where she had shattered the plate. She used a specialized glass cutter to silently remove a pane from the back door, reaching in to unlock it.

She slipped into the kitchen, moving with a terrifying, practiced grace that entirely betrayed her "dementia" defense. She held a crowbar in one hand and a heavy flashlight in the other, heading straight for Daniel’s home office.

As she crossed the living room, the main lights suddenly blazed on, blinding her.
