Chapter 6 - The Great Escape

A week later, I was medically cleared for discharge, but my daughter had to remain in the NICU.

Julian insisted on bringing me back to the massive, terrifying house where he had tried to kill me.

I knew that returning to that house was a fatal mistake.

He was growing increasingly paranoid, constantly checking my phone and watching my every move.

I needed to vanish completely before he realized I remembered everything.

I coordinated a brilliant escape plan with Elena and a private security firm she had hired.

On the morning of my discharge, Julian went to the hospital cafeteria to buy himself a coffee.

The moment the elevator doors closed behind him, my security team moved with military precision.

Two large men in scrubs walked into my room and escorted me down a hidden staff stairwell.

They led me to an unmarked black SUV idling perfectly in the underground parking garage.

I climbed into the back seat, my heart pounding fiercely against my healing ribs.

Elena handed me a burner phone, a thick stack of cash, and a new set of identification documents.

We drove away from the hospital just as Julian was returning to my empty room.

I could only imagine the sheer, explosive rage he felt when he found my empty bed.

He was a control freak who had just lost his primary victim.

I was taken to a highly secure, anonymous safehouse on the very edge of the city.

I was finally out of his physical reach, but the psychological war was just entering its most brutal phase.

I sat on the edge of the safehouse bed, ready to burn Julian's entire world to ashes.
