Chapter 20 - A New Dawn

A full, peaceful year later, the horrific nightmare was finally a distant, fading memory. We had successfully recovered every single stolen dime from the hidden offshore accounts. With the recovered funds, Mom joyfully bought a beautiful, sunlit little cottage right on the breezy coast, far away from the dark, suffocating suburban house where she had suffered so deeply.

Mom was out in the beautiful garden, laughing warmly as she happily planted bright yellow and blue hydrangeas in the fertile soil. She was absolutely thriving, a beautiful, living testament to sheer human resilience and the unbreakable spirit.

I reached out and squeezed her warm hand. “I told you, Mom. I’m a federal prosecutor. I protect vulnerable people for a living. But most importantly, I will always protect my family.”
