Chapter 17 - The Smoking Gun

The absolute, final nail in the coffin came on day four of the grueling trial. The desperate defense adamantly maintained that Mom’s horrific physical injuries were simply from accidental falls caused by her supposed "dementia." The horrified jurors’ faces instantly hardened into absolute masks of pure disgust and sheer anger. One juror physically covered her mouth in absolute horror, tears streaming down her face. I looked directly at Marcus. He had finally dropped his heavy head onto the defense table. He knew it was completely over.
