Chapter 7 - The Desperate Strike

Two weeks later, Clara and I were quietly enjoying a peaceful, relaxing Sunday morning in our penthouse.
The heavy, metallic sound of the private elevator chiming broke the comfortable silence.
The building's head of security walked into our living room, looking deeply apologetic and highly concerned.
"Mr. Ashford, there is a court server heavily insisting on delivering a legal summons directly to you," the guard explained.
I sighed heavily, walking to the front door to accept the thick manila envelope.
I opened the formal documents and actually laughed out loud at the absolute absurdity of the legal filing.
My mother had somehow found a sleazy, desperate lawyer willing to file a massive lawsuit against us.
She was formally suing for emergency grandparents' rights, heavily claiming that Clara was completely mentally unstable.
The lawsuit alleged that I was aggressively brainwashed by my wife and that our unborn child was in terrible danger.
"She is completely delusional," Clara whispered, reading the horrific lies printed on the legal pages.
"She thinks she can legally force a judge to hand over our baby," I said, shaking my head in total disbelief.
I immediately called Marcus Vance, who found the entire situation completely hilarious and strategically perfect.
"Liam, this is the absolute best thing she could have possibly done," Marcus laughed loudly through the phone.
"By filing this ridiculous lawsuit, she has actively forced the entire situation into open family court."
"We now have the legal right to present the security footage directly to a federal judge on the public record."
I spent the next three days aggressively preparing Clara for the upcoming courtroom battle.

I assured her that she would never have to be afraid of that terrible woman ever again.
We were completely ready to burn my mother's remaining dignity to the absolute ground.
