Chapter 3 - The Iron Vault

I left Clara safely guarded by private security at the hospital and drove straight to the financial district.

My late father had left me completely in charge of the massive Ashford family trust fund when he passed away.

My mother had always lived incredibly lavishly, entirely funded by the massive monthly allowance I authorized.

I walked directly into the heavy glass doors of my family's private wealth management firm.

Mr. Sterling, our senior accountant, greeted me warmly, completely unaware of the raging storm inside me.

"Liam, it is wonderful to see you, how is the beautiful mother-to-be?" Mr. Sterling asked with a wide smile.

"I need you to completely freeze my mother's bank accounts immediately," I said coldly, cutting off his pleasantries.

Mr. Sterling blinked rapidly, utterly shocked by my sudden, drastic demand.

"Mr. Ashford, you are talking about cutting off her credit cards, her estate funds, and her daily spending limits," he warned.

"I want every single cent completely blocked by noon today, with absolutely no exceptions," I ordered.

"Furthermore, I want you to initiate the legal eviction process for the main family estate."

"The house legally belongs to me, and I am formally terminating her right to reside there."

Mr. Sterling nodded nervously, his fingers flying rapidly across his keyboard to execute my exact commands.

Next, I visited the most ruthless, aggressive corporate law firm in the entire city of Chicago.

I hired a brilliant attorney named Marcus Vance, a man famous for destroying arrogant people in the courtroom.

I handed him the hard drive containing every single second of the horrific security footage.

Marcus watched the video of the dining room incident, his professional, stone-cold face twisting in deep disgust.

"We are going to legally ruin this woman, Liam," Marcus promised, sliding the hard drive into his heavy safe.

"We will press criminal charges for dependent abuse, and we will hit her with a massive civil lawsuit for emotional distress."

I walked out of the towering skyscraper feeling the first tiny spark of real satisfaction.
