Chapter 10 - The Ultimate Victory

Five beautiful, deeply happy years quickly passed by in the blink of an eye.
Clara and I were sitting peacefully on the massive wooden porch of our new, custom-built countryside home.
We had moved far away from the toxic city, heavily choosing a quiet, wonderful life surrounded by nature.
Lily was happily running through the green grass, wildly chasing a yellow butterfly with her bright, innocent giggles.
I held Clara’s hand tightly, feeling an immense, profound sense of complete gratitude.
We had successfully weathered the absolute worst storm, and our strong marriage had become entirely unbreakable.
Occasionally, I received highly detailed reports from my private investigator regarding my mother’s pathetic situation.
She was currently living heavily off meager state assistance in a tiny, rundown studio apartment.
Her former wealthy friends completely pretended they did not know her whenever they accidentally crossed paths.
She spent her miserable, lonely days bitterly staring out a dirty window, entirely forgotten by the world.
She had tried to violently steal my child, and in return, she had lost absolutely everything she valued.
I stood up slowly and walked down the porch steps, scooping my laughing daughter high into the warm air.
"Daddy caught you!" I laughed loudly, spinning her around as she squealed with pure joy.
Clara watched us from the porch, her beautiful face glowing with absolute, undeniable happiness.
I had made a terrible mistake trusting the wrong person in the past.

But I had made the ultimate, perfect choice in aggressively protecting the people who actually mattered.
Our beautiful life was completely perfect, and the dark shadows of the past were permanently erased forever.
