Chapter 4 - The Fake Remorse

Exactly forty-eight hours later, my cell phone began ringing constantly with frantic, panicked calls.

My mother had finally gone to her favorite luxury boutique, only to have all of her black cards violently declined.

I sat comfortably in my new, heavily secured penthouse apartment, ignoring every single call she made.

Clara was resting safely in the master bedroom, eating a warm bowl of soup prepared by our private chef.

Finally, I received a desperate text message from my mother begging for a meeting.

"Liam, darling, there has been a terrible misunderstanding at the bank," her message read.

"Please let me explain everything; I love you and Clara so much."

I smiled darkly, knowing exactly how to handle her pathetic, transparent manipulation.

I replied, telling her to meet me at Le Petite Chateau, the most exclusive, expensive restaurant in the city.

It was the absolute center of her wealthy social circle, where everyone knew her name and respected her fake status.

I arrived precisely at eight o'clock, wearing a sharp, tailored black suit.

My mother was already sitting at the best table in the center of the crowded room, looking extremely nervous.

She tried to stand up and hug me, but I completely ignored her open arms and sat down gracefully.

"Liam, thank goodness, you have to call Mr. Sterling immediately," she hissed quietly, trying not to cause a public scene.

"He has made a horrific mistake and frozen all of my essential accounts."

"It was not a mistake, Mother," I replied calmly, sipping my sparkling water.

"I froze the accounts because I am formally cutting you entirely out of the family wealth."

Her perfectly botoxed face twisted into an ugly mask of pure, absolute panic.

"You cannot do this to me over a silly, harmless little joke!" she whisper-screamed, leaning over the table.

"I am your mother, and that girl is nothing but a temporary incubator for our family bloodline!"

I looked around the packed restaurant, ensuring that all of her wealthy friends were seated at the nearby tables.

I reached into my breast pocket and pulled out a small, highly advanced digital projector.

The trap was now perfectly set, and it was time to spring it.
