Chapter 12 - Chloe’s Testimony

Just when Marcus thought it couldn't get any worse, the courtroom doors swung open.

Chloe walked in, wearing a modest dress, clutching her pregnant belly nervously.

Marcus's jaw practically unhinged when he saw his mistress walking down the aisle.

“Your Honor, I call my final surprise witness, Ms. Chloe Adams,” Sarah announced proudly.

Marcus lunged forward, trying to grab his lawyer's arm.

“You have to stop her, do something!” Marcus hissed, completely losing his composure.

Chloe took the stand, swearing an oath to tell the truth.

Under Sarah’s gentle questioning, Chloe laid bare every single lie Marcus had ever told her.

She detailed the luxury condo, the expensive gifts, and the offshore accounts he bragged about.

“He told me his wife was dead,” Chloe cried, wiping tears from her eyes.

“When I found out she was alive and pregnant, he threatened to take my baby away if I spoke up,” she testified.

The court reporter typed furiously as Chloe dismantled Marcus’s entire life.

Judge Sterling wrote notes aggressively, his pen nearly tearing through the legal pad.

Eleanor stood up from the gallery, pointing a shaking finger at Chloe.

“She is a lying gold-digger! My son would never!” Eleanor shrieked.

“Bailiff, remove that woman from my courtroom immediately!” Judge Sterling roared, pointing his gavel at Eleanor.

Officer Miller, the same bailiff who had called the paramedics weeks ago, gladly escorted a screaming Eleanor out the doors.

Marcus sat alone at the defense table, abandoned by his mother, his mistress, and rapidly losing his lawyer's support.

“Ms. Adams, thank you for your bravery today. You may step down,” Judge Sterling said softly.

The judge then turned his furious gaze back to the defense table.

“Mr. Vance, we need to have a very serious conversation about your immediate future,” he stated coldly.
