Chapter 8 - The Confrontation

Silas did not hesitate.
He pulled the trigger of his automatic shotgun, sending a devastating spread of buckshot into the smoke.
Screams echoed as the first wave of mercenaries dropped to the floor.
Nadia moved with terrifying speed, firing precise, calculated bursts that neutralized targets in seconds.
They pushed out of the armory, stepping over the fallen bodies of Julian’s hired guns.
The once-pristine basement hallways were now a warzone, littered with debris and shattered marble.
Silas and Nadia fought their way up the servant stairs, bursting into the grand main hall of the mansion.
The massive crystal chandelier hung precariously above them, casting fractured light across the bloodstained floors.
Julian stood at the top of the grand staircase, holding a terrified Elena at gunpoint.
“Drop the weapons, Silas!” Julian screamed, pressing the barrel against Elena’s temple.
“Or I blow her brains out right here!”
Silas lowered his shotgun slightly, staring up at the boy he had raised and the woman he had loved.
Elena sobbed, reaching a trembling hand out toward Silas.
“Please, Silas, don't let him kill me!” she pleaded, her makeup smeared with tears.
Nadia kept her rifle raised, her eyes darting between Julian and the remaining guards circling the balcony.
“You really think using her as a shield will stop me, Julian?” Silas asked, his voice dead calm.

“You betrayed me first, old man! You never respected me! You always treated me like a pawn!” Julian yelled.
“I treated you like a son,” Silas corrected him, taking a slow step forward.
