Chapter 2 - The First Blood

Silas kicked the heavy cedar doors of the wardrobe open with bone-shattering force.

The thick wood slammed into the closest assassin, breaking his nose and sending him crashing to the floor.

Before Julian could even turn around, Silas raised his weapon and fired two suppressed rounds.

The bullets found their mark, dropping the second guard instantly in a spray of crimson.

Nadia moved like a shadow, slipping out of the wardrobe and firing her compact pistol with terrifying precision.

The third guard collapsed before he could even unholster his weapon.

Julian stumbled backward, his eyes wide with absolute horror as he stared at the father he had betrayed.

“Silas!” Julian gasped, dropping his radio and scrambling behind the massive oak desk.

“You always were a coward when the bullets started flying, Julian,” Silas growled, his voice echoing like thunder in the study.

Nadia did not hesitate; she provided covering fire, keeping Julian pinned down while Silas advanced.

“We need to move, boss,” Nadia warned, her sharp eyes scanning the shattered French doors.

“The sound of his bodyguards hitting the floor will draw the rest of the perimeter team.”

Silas knew she was right, but his rage demanded that he finish the boy right here and now.

He fired a shot into the oak desk, splintering the wood just inches from Julian’s face.

“This isn’t over, old man!” Julian screamed, crawling toward the hidden escape hatch beneath the floorboards.

Silas lunged forward, but a sudden hail of gunfire erupted from the hallway.

More of Julian’s Russian mercenaries were pouring into the corridor, their heavy assault rifles tearing the walls apart.

“Through the servant’s passage!” Nadia yelled, grabbing Silas by the arm and pulling him toward the bookshelf.

Silas reached out and pulled a hidden lever disguised as a leather-bound dictionary.

The bookshelf swung open seamlessly, revealing a dark, narrow corridor that led deep into the mansion’s walls.

They slipped inside just as the study doors were blown completely off their hinges.
