Chapter 7 - The Extraction Plan

“My family is waiting three miles out,” Nadia said, adjusting the straps of her mask.

“If we can break through the Russian perimeter, the Castellano enforcers will cover our escape.”

Silas looked at the woman who had poured his coffee just hours ago.

“Why are you risking your life to save me, Nadia? You could have let Julian kill me and taken the territory.”

Nadia paused, her dark eyes locking onto his with absolute sincerity.

“Because my father respected you, Silas. And he taught me that monsters who break oaths deserve no mercy.”

Silas’s mind raced, connecting the dots that had been hidden from him for years.

“Your father... is Vincent Castellano,” Silas realized, speaking the name of the legendary don.

Nadia simply nodded, racking the slide of her assault rifle.

“He sent his own daughter to clean my floors?” Silas asked, genuinely stunned.

“He sent his best assassin to ensure the balance of power remained stable,” Nadia corrected him sharply.

The heavy steel blast door groaned violently as the mercenaries attached breaching charges to the hinges.

“Time is up,” Silas muttered, flipping the safety off his shotgun.

“When the door blows, we push through the smoke and aim for the central staircase.”

“Understood,” Nadia said, standing shoulder to shoulder with the most feared man in the city.

The countdown in Silas’s head reached zero just as a deafening explosion ripped the blast door inward.

Thick gray smoke poured into the armory, followed by the blinding beams of tactical flashlights.
