Chapter 10 - The New Empire

Flames licked at the expensive velvet curtains as the grand estate began to crumble around them.
Silas grabbed Nadia’s arm, pulling her toward the reinforced front doors.
They ignored Elena’s screams for help, leaving her and Julian to the mercy of the burning ruins.
They burst through the heavy mahogany doors, stepping out into the cool night air.
The Russian perimeter guards were disorganized, panicked by the sudden destruction of the fortress.
Before they could even aim their weapons at Silas, the roar of heavy engines echoed down the driveway.
A convoy of sleek, black SUVs smashed through the front gates, guns blazing from the windows.
The Castellano family had arrived.
Nadia’s backup tore through the remaining mercenaries with brutal, overwhelming force.
A black armored car skidded to a halt in front of Silas and Nadia, the back door swinging open.
“Get in!” a familiar, gravelly voice yelled from inside.
Silas looked in and saw Vincent Castellano himself, an old man with eyes as sharp as ever.
Silas climbed into the vehicle, followed closely by Nadia, as the car sped away from the burning mansion.
He looked back through the tinted window, watching his twenty-five-year legacy turn into a pillar of smoke and ash.
He had lost his home, his wife, and his adopted son all in one violent night.
But as he looked at Nadia, sitting across from him reloading her weapon, he felt something entirely new.
