Chapter 4 - The Viper's Nest

A child. His child.
The revelation should have brought him to his knees, but Damiano was a creature bred for war. The shock crystallized into pure, unadulterated wrath. Renato had stolen a decade of his life, his father’s life, and now threatened his daughter.
"We need to move," Damiano commanded, handing Clara one of the dead guards' sidearms. "Renato thinks I'm drinking coffee in the conservatory. When these men don't check in, he'll lock down the estate."
"How many men are loyal to him?" Clara asked, checking the magazine with practiced efficiency.
"Too many," Damiano admitted. "He controls the payroll. But Enzo and the old guard are loyal to the bloodline. We just have to reach them."

He picked Elara up again. As they slipped out of the security room, the estate’s massive siren suddenly wailed, shattering the morning silence. Red emergency lights bathed the manicured lawns in a violent glow.
Renato knew. The hunt had begun.
