Chapter 9 - The Ambush at Geneva Continental

The Geneva Continental Bank was a fortress of marble and steel, catering exclusively to the ultra-wealthy. Richard and Eleanor stormed through the front doors, demanding access to the subterranean vaults.
"I am Richard Sterling! That vault belongs to my son, and I demand it be frozen immediately!" he yelled at the terrified night manager.
"Sir, I cannot do that without a court order," the manager stammered.
Suddenly, the heavy steel doors to the elevator bank chimed, sliding open to reveal Clara and Elias. Clara held a thick manila folder in her hands, the seal of the Geneva Bank stamped on the front.
She had already been inside.
"Looking for this?" Clara asked, her voice echoing in the empty, cavernous lobby. She tossed a small, plastic evidence bag onto the glass reception desk. Inside was a vial of blood and a USB drive.
Richard lunged for it, but Elias was faster. He pinned Richard’s hand to the desk with a grip that threatened to shatter bone.
"Touch it, and you lose the hand," Elias warned, his voice a lethal whisper.

Eleanor screamed, falling back against a marble pillar. "You can't do this! We are the Sterlings! We own this city!"
"Not anymore," Clara said, her voice steady and ringing with absolute authority. "Julian’s true will leaves everything to me. But more importantly, this blood test proves heavy metal poisoning. Arsenic, specifically. Administered slowly over six months."
