Chapter 19 - The Storm Passes

"We make a terrifying team, Mr. Thorne," Clara said, leaning back into his embrace.

"We do, Mrs. Thorne," Elias replied, the title still feeling new and exhilarating on his tongue. They had married in secret, a private ceremony on a yacht in international waters, with no press, no society vultures, and no high-society drama.

"Do you ever miss it?" Clara asked, turning to look at him. "The chaos? The blood in the rain?"

Elias looked deeply into her eyes, tracing the faint scar on her cheekbone—the last fading reminder of the night she had been thrown into the street.
