Chapter 11 - The Struggle in the Guest Room

Back at the estate, Elise screamed for help as Thomas lunged at her. She threw the heavy silver breakfast tray at his head, sending hot tea and porcelain shattering across the floor.
Thomas cursed, stumbling backward as the hot liquid splashed his face. Elise didn't hesitate. She scrambled toward the door, her hands frantically twisting the brass knob, but Thomas had locked it from the inside.
"You're not getting out of here, you little tramp!" Thomas snarled, wiping tea from his eyes. He grabbed her by the hair, throwing her violently onto the bed.
"Martha! Arthur! Help!" Elise shrieked at the top of her lungs, fighting like a wild animal. She kicked out, her heel catching Thomas sharply in the knee.
Thomas grunted in pain but quickly pinned her down, raising the syringe. "This is concentrated fentanyl, Elise. They'll just think the stress of the wedding drove you to take your own life. Just like your junkie sister."
Suddenly, the heavy oak door shuddered.
Someone was slamming against it from the hallway. "Elise! Stand back!"
It was Arthur’s voice.

With a deafening crack, the doorframe splintered. Arthur burst into the room, holding a heavy iron fireplace poker. Martha was right behind him, her hands clamped over her mouth in horror.
Arthur took one look at his brother pinning Elise down with a needle, and let out a roar of absolute fury.
