Chapter 7 - The Shark Attorney

Julian had promised to unleash the most vicious litigators in the city on me if I fought the divorce.

I decided to beat him to the punch by hiring someone even worse.

Her name was Victoria Vance—no relation to Julian, which she found endlessly amusing.

Victoria was known in elite circles as "The Widow-Maker" for her ability to strip cheating husbands down to their socks.

When she walked into my office, wearing a crimson trench coat and a predatory smile, I knew I had made the right choice.

“I reviewed the settlement offer your husband drafted,” Victoria said, tossing the manila folder onto my desk with disgust.

“It’s a pathetic insult, completely unenforceable, and honestly, a little delusional.”

I leaned forward, pouring her a cup of coffee as we strategized our counter-attack.

“I don't just want a fair settlement, Victoria; I want him left with absolutely nothing,” I told her.

She grinned, flashing perfectly white teeth.

“Oh, honey, with the financial documents you provided, he’s going to owe you money by the time we’re done.”

We filed our counter-petition that very afternoon, blinding Julian’s legal team with our aggression.

We demanded a full audit of his secret offshore accounts, spousal support based on his projected income, and full ownership of the Hamptons estate.

Within an hour of the filing, Julian called my phone, breathing heavily like a cornered animal.

“Are you insane? You’re trying to ruin my entire life!” he screamed.

“I’m just securing my future, Julian, just like you told me to,” I replied sweetly, and hung up.
