Chapter 9 - The Courtroom Carnage

The divorce hearing was a brutal, one-sided massacre.

Brian showed up to the courthouse looking like a complete shell of his former self.

His expensive suits were wrinkled, and he looked incredibly exhausted.

Without access to the marital funds, he had been forced to hire a cheap, inexperienced lawyer.

Marcus stood beside me, radiating absolute power and confidence.

The judge reviewed the evidence of the slap, the medical records from Lily's ER visit, and the massive financial fraud.

Brian tried to argue that he deserved half of the equity in my grandfather's house.

The judge silenced him with a vicious glare, completely disgusted by his behavior.

Because Brian had used marital funds to finance an affair, the judge awarded me total restitution.

Brian was ordered to pay back every single dollar he had stolen, plus full child support.

He was also denied joint custody of Lily due to his reckless endangerment of her health.

He was granted supervised visits once a month, which he would have to pay for himself.

As the gavel slammed down, Brian buried his face in his hands and wept.

He had chosen his mother's pride and a secret affair over his own daughter's life.

Now, he was walking out of the courthouse with absolutely nothing.
