Chapter 15 - The Raid on Vance Enterprises

At precisely 10:00 AM on Monday, the corporate headquarters of Vance Development Group—a sleek, twenty-story glass tower overlooking the Richmond skyline—was transformed into a federal crime scene. Three armored tactical vehicles from the FBI’s White-Collar Crime Division and the Department of Homeland Security pulled up to the front entrance, accompanied by twenty heavily armed federal agents wearing tactical vests.

Inside the thirty-floor executive suite, Julian Vance was in a state of manic, desperate panic. Surrounded by three of his top defense lawyers, he was frantically shouting orders at his IT technicians, demanding they remotely wipe every corporate server and incinerate the backup hard drives in the basement vault before the authorities could arrive.

"Wipe everything!" Julian screamed, sweeping a laptop off his mahogany desk so it smashed onto the carpet. "If they find the offshore transfer logs to the Cayman accounts, we’re all going down! Do it now!"

"We can't, Mr. Vance!" his chief IT engineer stammered, staring at his frozen console in terror. "Somebody locked us out of our own administrative root access six hours ago! The entire system has been mirrored and encrypted from an external IP address! We don't have control of our own network!"

Before Julian could process the reality of David Chen’s digital sabotage, the heavy double doors of his executive suite were breached with a thunderous crash. Twelve federal agents flooded the office, rifles raised, shouting commands that cut through the corporate elegance like a chainsaw.

"Federal agents! Step away from the desks! Hands in the air right now!"

Julian froze, his face draining to the color of wet ash as the lead FBI special agent walked straight up to his desk, holding a thick sheaf of federal warrants.

"Julian Vance," the agent spoke clearly, taking out a pair of heavy steel handcuffs. "You are under arrest for conspiracy to commit bank fraud, wire fraud, aggravated identity theft, money laundering, and interstate domestic violence under the Violence Against Women Act. You have the right to remain silent. I strongly suggest you use it."

As the cuffs clicked tightly around his manicured wrists, Julian was dragged out of his corner office past his stunned, silent employees, his journey from untouchable billionaire to common federal prisoner broadcast live by news helicopters hovering outside the glass windows.
