Chapter 12 - The Boardroom Coup

Before Elena could make her decision about London, a new crisis erupted from within the deepest ranks of Sterling Enterprises.
During the quarterly board of directors meeting, three senior board members who had been secretly aligned with Marcus Vance initiated a vote of no confidence against Julian.
They claimed his relationship with Elena was a conflict of interest that endangered shareholder value and violated corporate governance laws.
Julian sat at the head of the massive mahogany table, his face set in stone as the chairman of the board read the formal complaint.
“Mr. Sterling has allowed personal feelings to dictate executive appointments,” the chairman declared, glaring down the table at Elena.
“We demand Ms. Vance’s immediate resignation, or we will freeze all capital mergers pending a federal ethics investigation.”
Julian opened his mouth to tear the boardroom apart, ready to sacrifice his own position to protect Elena's reputation and career.
Before he could utter a word, Elena stood up from her seat, her navy suit crisp, her posture radiating pure, unadulterated dominance.
“Before you vote, gentlemen, I suggest you look at the tablet screens in front of you,” Elena said, her voice ringing with absolute cold authority.
The board members looked down as Elena tapped her phone, projecting a series of bank statements and offshore shell company records onto the main screen.
“Over the last four years, the three of you have systematically funneled consulting fees from Sterling's acquisitions into accounts in the Cayman Islands,” Elena revealed coldly.
The room erupted into chaos as the accused board members turned pale, shouting denials that were instantly drowned out by the documented proof.
“I spent two years sitting in the corner of this room as a silent assistant,” Elena continued, her eyes flashing with dangerous brilliance.
“You thought I was invisible, which means you never bothered to hide your digital paper trails when I was taking the minutes.”
She leaned her hands on the mahogany table, fixing the trembling chairman with a predator's smile that she had learned directly from Julian.

“You will withdraw your motion of no confidence, you will resign from this board effective immediately, and you will leave your equity behind to cover the damages.”
When silence finally reclaimed the boardroom, Julian was looking at her from the head of the table, his chest heaving, his eyes burning with absolute, overwhelming worship.
