Chapter 5 - Arthur’s Secret

I was rushed into an emergency trauma room to treat my injuries.

I had a fractured collarbone, a severe concussion, and three broken ribs.

The physical pain was agonizing, but my mind had never felt clearer.

A few hours later, Clara walked into my private recovery room with a warm smile.

She adjusted my pillows and checked my fresh IV line.

“You are the bravest woman I have ever met,” Clara told me softly.

Right behind her, Arthur stepped into the room, holding his security cap in his hands.

“How are you holding up, kid?” the older man asked gruffly.

“I am alive because of you, Arthur,” I replied sincerely.

“But why did you risk your job to help me?”

Arthur pulled up a chair and let out a long, heavy sigh.

“Five years ago, Marcus Vance's firm organized a hostile takeover of my brother's manufacturing company,” Arthur explained.

“They stripped the assets, fired everyone, and drove my brother to an early grave.”

I gasped softly, realizing the depth of Marcus's cruelty.

“I took this security job knowing Marcus used this clinic for his VIP clients,” Arthur continued.

“I have been watching him for years, waiting for him to make a fatal mistake.”

Arthur smiled, a hard, satisfying grin.

“Today, he made that mistake.”

“We caught the devil on tape, Arthur,” I smiled back.

“Yes we did,” he nodded.

“And I have already forwarded a copy of the video to every major news outlet in the state.”
