Chapter 10 - Peace At Last

Six months had passed since the dramatic arrests at the restaurant.

Sandra Jenkins, exposed as a career criminal and abuser, was sentenced to ten years in a state penitentiary.

Rachel took a plea deal, agreeing to severe rehabilitation programs and officially terminating her parental rights forever.

David’s reputation had not only survived, but flourished.

The public learned the truth of his fierce protection of his children, and he was hailed as a hero father.

But David didn't care about the public's opinion; he only cared about his home.

It was a sunny Saturday afternoon, and the sounds of laughter echoed through the mansion.

Chloe and Leo were chasing a brand new golden retriever puppy across the green lawn.

David stood on the porch, holding a cup of coffee, watching them with a warm, genuine smile.

The shadows of fear that used to haunt the children's eyes were completely gone.

They felt safe, loved, and protected.

Chloe ran up to the porch, throwing her arms around David's waist just like she did on that horrible day.

But this time, there were no tears, only pure joy.

“I love you, Papa,” she beamed.

He had fought the darkness, won the battle, and finally brought the light back into their lives.
