Chapter 7 - The Grand Entrance

While David was having a full mental breakdown at city hall, I was attending a high-society charity luncheon.

The ballroom of the Grand Plaza was filled with the city's elite, dripping in diamonds and expensive cologne.

I walked down the grand staircase, wearing a stunning emerald green gown that caught everyone's attention.

Whispers erupted across the room as people recognized the elusive billionaire who rarely made public appearances.

My lawyer, Richard, handed me a crystal glass of champagne with a knowing, victorious smile.

"David pulled the property records this morning, Margaret. He knows," Richard whispered in my ear.

I took a slow, elegant sip of my champagne, feeling absolutely no sympathy for my treacherous son.

"Good. Let him suffocate in his own horrible life choices," I replied smoothly, greeting a passing senator.

Suddenly, a massive commotion erupted near the velvet ropes at the front entrance of the ballroom.

David was aggressively pushing past the security guards, his suit wrinkled and his hair a complete mess.

"Mom! Margaret! I need to speak to my mother!" he shouted, drawing the stares of every wealthy person in the room.

Two large security guards immediately grabbed his arms, lifting him forcefully off the carpeted floor.

I slowly walked over to the entrance, the crowd parting for me like the Red Sea.

David looked at me, his eyes wide with absolute shock at my glamorous, wealthy appearance.

"Mom... what is this? Why are you dressed like that?" he stammered, his voice breaking.

"I am dressed like the woman who owns the building you are standing in, David," I replied coldly.

"Now, unless you have an invitation, you are trespassing on my private property."
